One year ago today Blake was born at home

Every mother loves to tell the story about how their baby was born. It is like a common bond between women. When did the contractions start? did you get an epidural? how long did you push for? were you past your due date? did you have a c-section? It is fun... like trading war stories. We certainly have a right to brag. After all, we either squeezed something very large out of a small place or we had our bodies cut open and the baby pulled out of us. Come on, if you can't brag about that what can you brag about?

My first baby delivery was special because she was my first. The first grandchild on both sides. Very awesome. My second delivery was special because we were expecting a boy and got our precious McKenna - the most awesome shock of my life. My third delivery was special because I had it at home with no drugs. All 3 babies were a week late. All three nursed great after birth, had a loving family they were born in to, and melted my heart with one look. I am so blessed.

So, I had to share the birth story again (here). And some other posts right after the birth here, here, and here. Anyone out there care to share their stories? I love talking about babies, nursing, pregnancy. It is so awesome what our bodies can do. I have a friend, Paige, who is due any minute. I can't wait to hear her birth story!

I had a great pregnancy with our first child, but the delivery was a whole different story. Our baby was 13 days late, and found it quite comfortable INSIDE. After 32 hours of mild labor and never feeling the urge to push, our baby was pulled out by forcepts. (Instead of having an Ob-Gyn, my FAMILY doctor from when I was a child delivered our baby, and that's why it took so long.) But we ended up having the most beautiful, perfect baby parents could ever dream of, and she's still perfect today. And that's the story of KELLY'S birth on August 9, 1978. Grammy

Happy belated birthday Blake!

I love reading birth stories too. Here's the short version of mine: 28hrs of labour (12 at the hospital, no drugs (just a little pitocin to help my contraction stay regular), I laboured in a birthing pool and then in the shower but when the baby's heart rate started dropping I had to have oxygen. Finally after 30 mins of pushing our little surprise was born!
