Travels

I am in Knoxville, TN right now at Winterfest 2009 having a blast. I am staying up late and sleeping in until unheard of times. I feel like a rock star. This little vacation is all thanks to my parents who have once again taken all THREE of my children to watch them for us.

Since Travis flew in to Atlanta and I wanted to meet him up here, I decided I would drive the 3 kids up to Lake City (6.5 hrs away) to meet my parents for them to take the kids. We have been meeting in Lake City for a few years now to make this exchange. But I had never driven longer than an hour with all three kids by myself. Here is what happened...

I was totally prepared for everything. I had snacks, I had candy, I had new coloring books and crayons, the kids were fed and bathed by Emily, I was gassed up and prepared to listen to long hours of crying if necessary. McKenna had developed a fever during the day which I thought was related to her cough. I gave her some tylenol and hoped she would feel better. About 2 hours into the ride Kourtney announced from the backseat "McKenna is throwing up Mommy!" Oh my was she ever. Over, and over, and over. I was not near any exits. So I pulled over on the side of the road as far off as I could get. I had to clean her up with baby wipes and plastic bags. Gag me. It was not fun. But she was sweet as pie. She was most upset that her pink blankie was dirty.

The rest of the ride was uneventful. Trying to sleep at the hotel once we finally got there was a bit of a challenge. I only got 2 hours of broken up sleep. But I made it. And drove 8 hours the next day by myself. Now I am sitting here next to my hubby in our hotel room having a blast.

Kelly. GOD bless you. You are a trooper. I don't think I could have done anything like that with the kids at that age. You are way strong my dear friend.:)

Oh gross. Poor McKenna - but good for her for being a trooper. But then you all had to drive with the smell afterwards...I'm glad the rest of the ride went well. :)
