Facebook updates...

Today: "I guess 5:30 AM is better than 5 AM. McKenna stayed in bed all night but Blake got up at 5:30. I put him back in his bed three times before finally giving up at 6 AM. Now here we are watching Elmo... sigh."

Last night: Kids were all in bed with lights out by 7:15... haven't heard from anyone but McKenna who needed me to take a bandaid off her leg. All is quiet and I am praying they sleep until at least 6am!!! (make that 6:30, Lord)

Wednesday:
"Chicken ceasar salad and garlic bread for dinner, raspberry smoothies for dessert... mmmmmm"

"While getting ready to head to the car today I asked Blake (my 22 month old) if he needed to go potty before we left. He's not been potty trained yet. He said to me in a sweet toddler voice, "Noo..."

Tuesday:
"Working out of Panera Bread. It is amazing how much I can get done without kids around!"

Sunday: "enjoying down time after 3 awesome LPC services today, shew... I'm whooped!"

Saturday night: "Infected blister on my foot the size of a quarter. My whole foot hurts to walk on. Hope I'm not hobbling around the theater at church tomorrow! Soaking in epsom salt now..."
"We've been spending way too much at Blockbuster... switched back to Netflix. Working on my queue..."

Last week:
"Just got back from day #2 of exercise. Horray for me! Hope I can keep it up, it feels great and Blake is with me on my bike or in his stroller!"

August 21, 2009 - TEN year anniversary!

Travis... thanks for 10 awesome years babe! Here's to a million more! I can't believe what all we have done in ten years. The best thing are our 3 gorgeous children. We have lived some pretty crazy times. I wouldn't want to do life with anyone else!
Whale Harbor - yummy
Beautiful night. Love the sail boat in the background. This is just a few miles from where we live in the keys. So breathtaking.

No more bath time

I have always believed the easiest way to do bathtime is simultaneous for all the kids. Until now I throw all three kids in the tub at the same time and proceed to work my way through the kids. Shampoo/rinse/condition/rinse, shampoo/rinse/condition/rinse, shampoo/rinse (Blake doesn't need conditioner - I know there are shampoo/conditioner combos for the girls but it just never works as well). Then I let them wash their bodies with scrubbies. Squirt, squirt, squirt. Quite a routine and a little hard on my back!

Kourtney first decided to try taking a shower on her own on Wednesday night. My concern was only that she would get shampoo in her eyes so I warned her. I gave her the gentle no tears shampoo and closed the door behind me. She sang and showered for a long time and then came out all clean and happy. She declared that was the way she wanted to shower from then on.

Fast Forward to Thursday night. Kourtney showered on her own again and when she came out McKenna declared that SHE wanted to shower on her own too. I did the same thing... warned her about the shampoo, closed the door behind me. She came out a short time later and declared that SHE was going to shower that way every night too.

I have often thought of this day when all three kids would not longer be taking a bath together. I have not really wanted to lose the time of having them all there close together, playing, bubbles and water flying everywhere. But it is nice to move on to the next stage. I just want them to stop growing right now.

Blake still takes a bath, it is just by himself now. He loves it. More room to move and stretch out. All the bubbles to himself. No fighting over the pitcher.

A new day has come in this house!

1st Day of School at Island Christian

This day has been a long time coming. I had mixed emotions leading up to the day. After today, I couldn't be happier. I was a bit concerned when first thing in the morning McKenna began saying she didn't want to go to school and she was tired and she didn't want to get dressed. I just pictured our morning being a huge challenge. But I just ignored her comments and just stayed positive to her. Kourtney was super excited. Wanted to get dressed right away, talked about school. Eventually McKenna just popped up - I'm ready for school! I wanna get dressed! Shew, disaster averted.
This is the night before school. Daddy had a trip the next day so he wasn't able to see them off to school. He was telling them he loved them and to have a good day! He hated missing the first day :(
Frosting cinnamon rolls
Yummy!
My crew! Tammy stayed the night at our house since Travis was gone and helped me with my first day of school. She kept Blake in the morning and I went to school with the girls. First day of school at Island Christian. Kourtney (age 5) in Kindergarten. McKenna (age 4) in K4.
Brushing teeth
I said McKenna pick up your tooth brush and pretend to be brusing your teeth. This was the cute pose I got.
Pose!
We're off!

This picture cracks me up because of the fit of her outfit and the angle. Looks like her torso is 3 feet long and her legs are 3 inches long. I was not happy with the way the required uniforms fit. The shirts are very short and wide. The dresses are very wide. They swim in them even though the length is right. Hopefully they will shrink up a little bit when I wash them this week.

Dairy Queen after school. Nana happened to be at the LPC campus in the keys working so she got to go with me to pick up the girls after school.
What a mischevious look!
