Sunday CHICK-kabob

- Another sopping wet Sunday morning couldn't keep Life Pointe peeps away! I arrived at the theater during a break in the rain and was able to get all of my kids in without incident. Other people weren't so lucky today. I saw Lisette and Pam come in looking like they had just had a few buckets of water poured on them. God bless all of you who braved the torrential rain!!! At least that is all we will see of Gustav.
- Jennifer and Shelli taught in the 9 am while I attended service. Travis is preaching on money in the "Loaded" series. I just may have to go through our house and find some possessions we don't need anymore! If it isn't meeting a need, plant a seed.
- Back to the 2 yr old class with 9 little munchkins in there for the 2nd service. I was so excited today when Kelan was telling me all about Noah!
- We are getting all revved up for our September 14th launch of THREE SERVICES!!! I remember just a year ago freaking out about going to two services. Now we are going to three and somehow it seems a little easier. Maybe it is just that the Lord has calmed me down in the past year. I am trusting him to put all of our teams together!
- Over all it was a great (and wet) day. I am looking forward to a day with the family tomorrow and I plan on not doing any labor on Labor Day. Maybe we will bump into our long lost neighbors across the street if the mosquitoes aren't out!

This week

Kourtney has found her true love - school. Yesterday she cried because she wanted to stay for nap time. Very cute. Here is a conversation we had today:

Kourtney:
There's a boy at school that wants to sit by me every day.
Me:
Really, what is his name?
Kourtney:
His name is XXXXXX (omitted to protect the innocent :))
Me: Well that is nice, does he like you?

Kourtney:
NO! He bothers me.
Me: SIGHHHH (thank goodness)

Kourtney:
He wants to show me his underwear every day.
Me: WHAT?!?!?!?!?

Kourtney:
He pulls up his shirt and says, see my underwear!!!
Me: Well what do you do?

Kourtney: I tell him yucky and tell Ms. Marie.

It has started already!!!!! Boys wanting to show my precious 4 yr old their underwear!!!!! What am I gonna do?!?!?!

McKenna is having a great time with me in the mornings. This shirt used to belong to my baby doll when I was little. Maybe I even wore it as a baby. Mom? Clarify if you can! McKenna has been saying I want to be a mommy! Over and over. She says, "when I get big my shirt will grow and then I will be a mommy, right mommy?" So cute. We are working on her alphabet right now. Identifying the letters. Mostly because she wants to have school like Kourtney so I figured why not! Blake is as cute as ever. He has started hitting his head with his hand and laughing about it. You can see the evidence in this picture from the sauce on his head. He still won't stand on his own though I am sure he could if he tried. He crawls every where. Stands up at everything. Has made it into the toilet a few times (once even right after bath time). We have all learned to close the door behind us. He loves to laugh and make other people laugh. He squeals at his sisters whenever he sees them. He is very tough (I think from the "loving" sisterly abuse he often endures).

They all three are such great buddies. The girls look out after him. He is entertained by them. They play great together in the toy room. I am very blessed!

Blake the baller

I think we have an athlete on our hands. To ensure that Blake had some basketball in his life (and not all football), Kevin and Brittany sent him this tub hoop. He LOVES it! And he is very good at it too.

McKenna's 3 yr old pictures

Who needs JC Penneys? I took these in my dining room in front of our sliding glass door. I still need to work on the lighting/color and crop them. I just hope they print well at Walgreens! I do wish I had noticed her finger nails first. Maybe Travis can photoshop that out.

Sunday CHICK-kabob

It has been way too long since my last Sunday wrap up. It was sooooo good to be back to my church today. I decided that Life Pointe is the absolute best church on the planet.

We had a rockin' 2 year old class today. 11 in the first service and 16 in the second service. I realized a few things today...

1. I spend a lot of my morning in class trying to figure out what my sweet little two year olds are saying to me. Sometimes I bring in another teacher for a second opinion and then together we try to decipher. Sometimes we figure it out, sometimes not. As long as we don't miss them telling us they need to use the potty, we usually manage! I plan on becoming fluent in two year old language soon.

2. No matter how careful a toddler is juice boxes are messy and gold fish crackers love to get crumbled up in the grooves of our mats.

3. With the start of 3 services soon, I need more volunteers!!! If you are interested in serving in my class let me know!!! The best part is that you can always serve in one service and attend another.

4. Over the last 5 years, Giovanni Mentor has proven to be one of the most faithful Life Pointe members. He started with me in Kids Life when he was 11 and was my only kid to ever get the infamous "3 strikes." He is 16 now (I think). When we were in our building he walked to church every week because he lives with his grandparents who attend a Hatian church. When we moved to the theater, we both made sure he had rides.
He helps with set up and tear down. I do have to get on to him every now and then. Tell him that if he were moving any slower he would be going backwards. Give him the mean Miss Kelly eye... but I could probably count the number of times he has missed church. He will do just about anything I ask him to do. I am very proud of Gio. Here's an old picture of him...

Belly shirts

One of our new favorite shows as a family is abc's Wipeout. The girls love it. Kourtney always talks about wanting to be on the show. McKenna says she doesn't want Kourtney to go or she will get wet and hurt.

A funny little exchange we had about it today...
Kourtney: Where is the show at?
Me: California
Kourtney: Well I will just tell the computer where I want to go and then I will drive my car there. How do I get in the show?
Me: (too distracted with Blake to answer)
Kourtey: (seeing some girls getting ready to compete) They wear belly shirts in California?
Me: Yes
Kourtney: (in a matter of fact tone) Well, I guess I will have to wear one. Where can I find one?
Me: We don't wear belly shirts.
Kourtney: Well then how am I gonna be on the show?

Then later tonight I noticed a new Barbie that I guess my mom got for the girls. She had a belly shirt on. Jokingly (but in a serious mom face) I said, "Kourtney who got you this doll?" She said "Grammy, I guess the Barbie is from California."

30... again

Some of my great friends threw me a 30th birthday party last night to remind me two weeks after my 30th birthday that I had indeed turned 30. I guess that is what I get for being gone for so long. Thanks Tammy and Lisette! The black plates were a little mean, but we had a great time! There were guys there, but I just had to get a picture of all of us hot chicks...
Who came up with this dumb pose?
Lisette, me, Tammy

This is what Chris gets for always wanting to jump in the picture... a silly look on his face! BAHHHHH hahahahahaha. He doesn't care, he will be happy just to show up on my blog :).

9 year anniversary

Travis and I celebrated 9 years Thursday. I cannot believe how the time is flying. He is a wonderful father, the most handsome guy in the world, my best friend, and I am so thankful to be spending my life with him.

Kourtney goes to K4

Here in Florida the state pays for a child to go to a pre-K program. The parent can choose the school and the state pays for it. So we are sending Kourtney to Christian Preparatory Academy. It seems to be that is the thing to do at Life Pointe. I think it all started with Julia and Sara. Now this year we have I think 7 kids from Life Pointe attending CPA. Travis had his coaching network in Tampa today so I got to take her to her first day of school. Normally he will take her and I will pick her up. I only just teared up for a minute when I was taking this picture. I could have probably cried a lot more but it was so crazy getting all 3 kids fed, dressed and buckled in by 7:45 that I didn't really have time. She had a great time and says that school is the best thing ever. That makes parting with her easier.
Way too bright to see!Bad lighting :(

Oh say can't you sing?!?!?

I love the Olympics. I always have. From the opening ceremony to the metal counts. I always watch. I took one year of gymnastics when I was 10 and thought I would be a super star one day :). I have had a great time watching Phelps shatter records this year and the US women's team take the gold (and fight off those 8 year old Chinese "women"). However there is one thing that has annoyed me this year with our athletes that I guess I never noticed or cared about before. When they get gold and the national anthem is played while they are standing on the podium, I think they should sing the song! I know they probably aren't the best singers, but who is gonna hear anyways? At least mouth a few words of it. Boast about the land of the free and the home of the brave! They have waited their whole lives for that one moment and they can't learn the song? What is that about?!? I am no olympic athlete - or singer for that matter, but I think maybe they should give a national anthem crash course on the plane ride over.

River house

We stayed here for a few days of rest. It was incredible. The first night Travis slept for 11 hours. There was no internet and the world was still there after not checking my email for a few days. There was tv and I was able to watch the US women's gymnastics team take the gold. Travis and I played games, sat on the dock, and went to eat at the Apple Barn.

First day of school

My baby starts K4 tomorrow. It is a sad and exciting time. Until now we have all been home together all day and do whatever we want. Thank goodness I am being eased into this with a half day. Travis will take her to school and I will pick her up at noon every day. I can't believe this day is here. Kourtney is so ready for it. Thanks to Tropical Storm Fay schools here were closed Monday and Tuesday which gave me a chance to have one more full day with all the kids (do I sound like a sap? well I am). We got caught in a down pour leaving the store. It was actually comical. By the time we got to the car we were soaked to the bone. My jeans were wet from my ankles to my pockets. Kourtney laughed the whole time, McKenna cried, and Blake looked confused. Kourtney asked if we could do it again the next time it rained. She is gonna do great at school.

Leaving Georgia

This was in front of Kevin's office building. He works for Damascus Homes. Blake thought it was still the olympics... he was trying out some moves on Kevin.
Our drive to Tennessee... I love it here.
